High availability, security and scalability: InfraServ Gendorf supports the DOCUgroup’s business success with IT services

Initial Situation

DOCUgroup offers specialist information for the construction industry which is used by over 100,000 companies. The information is available to customers online as well as in print form. The entire company’s business is anchored in this sensitive database, which makes its IT infrastructure absolutely essential to its success. So in 2007, DOCUgroup commissioned InfraServ Gendorf with re-establishing its IT infrastructure and handling ongoing support.


In light of how important the IT systems are for the company’s business, DOCUgroup aimed to achieve the highest possible level of availability and security. At the same time, the amount of work involved had to remain manageable – in spite of how complex the tasks were. In order to meet these demanding requirements, InfraServ Gendorf developed a technology and support model with a maximum level of individual service. DOCUgroup now has a fixed team of contact persons at its fingertips which is available 24/7. If problems come up, the company will be spared lengthy waits on the phone just to explain the basic situation. The ones who pick up the phone are the same experts specifically trained in the IT infrastructure which DOCUgroup was provided with. This means that a solution can be proposed right away.
InfraServ Gendorf also developed a service action plan together with the customer: days which are extremely important for DOCUgroup’s business (before a looming editorial deadline, for instance) receive special treatment. InfraServ Gendorf provides a higher level of service on such days so that it can react optimally.
With the supported IT-infrastructure and its service organization, InfraServ Gendorf forms the “brackets” which hold all of DOCU’s services together: Even if the cause of a problem is attributable to components from a third-party provider, InfraServ Gendorf and its IT service handle the initial diagnostic work and forwards it to the relevant manufacturer. So DOCUgroup needn’t worry about having several different providers jousting for the right solution or laying the blame on each other.
In addition to this customer-specific cloud solution, InfraServ Gendorf is in charge of hosting E-mail gateway services (for large amounts of mass E-mails) and providing and operating IT security systems. Hosting and service performance is provided in accordance with German (and just the highest) legal standards for data protection and data security.


DOCUgroup’s stringent requirements for the availability of its IT systems have uniformly been surpassed to date: Availability has remained at virtually 100% over years and years. The IT security concept has also proven to be a resounding success: Since the cooperation began in 2007, DOCUgroup did not experience any more business-related security issues. The customer considers the scalability of the IT infrastructure to be an especially positive feature: new product ideas are constantly being developed at the company, and they can only be implemented if there is suitable IT support for them. InfraServ Gendorf did an impressive job here with the fast execution times it provided which enable DOCUgroup grow dynamically.
